After being purchased by Fiat. Then Fiat merged with American automaker Chrysler to form Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, or FCA, in 2012. So the Alfa Romeo brand was essentially owned by Fiat for a while. However, that changed in 2021, when Fiat Chrysler Automobiles merged with Groupe PSA, based in France. This group is responsible for brands like Peugeot. So now a new company, Stellantis, has been created. It combines 14 car brands diversified into commercial, luxury, premium, and sports vehicles.
