Many people don’t think of their blinker as a safety feature, but the simple ability to let other vehicles on the road know where you’re turning is a key way to stop accidents from happening. What happens, though, when a blinker stops working? Obviously, you can contact our Alfa Romeo service center for help.

Possible Reasons for a Non-Functional Blinker

There are a few reasons why your blinker may not be working. These include:

  • Bad Light Bulb – The “best” version of this problem is simply a burnt-out lightbulb. These are quick and easy to replace, and you can purchase them at our dealership.
  • Bad Turn Signal Switch – Sometimes, the switch near the steering wheel that controls the turn signal can break or experience a wiring issue. In this case, the blinker itself is fine, but the mechanism that controls the blinker is not.
  • Oxidization on Bulb Sockets – All sorts of Alfa Romeo car parts can gather oxidization crust or rust. If it gets bad enough around electric connections, blinker lights can stop working, which is why regular inspections are so important.
  • Blown Fuse – Just like in your home, if your fuses get too strong a rush of electricity, they can blow. A quick fuse reset or replacement can fix this.
  • Broken Flasher Module – If the blinker inside the car is working but the lights outside are not, it’s possible something is wrong with the flasher module, which sends power to your turn signal.
